Our Cattle
Crossbreed
Our first breeding herd are crossbreeds called Black Baldy. They are a cross between a Hereford and a solid black breed like a Black Angus. And both of these breeds are beef cattle, bred for their meat.
Over the years we have increase our breeding herd to include a variety of other cattle breeds like the Red Angus, Black Angus, Angus X, Shorthorn and Murray Grey. And we have always used a Red Angus bulls over them.
Red Angus
Apart from the coat colour, the Red Angus is identical to a Black Angus. But in Australia, the Red Angus are registered differently from the Black Angus cattle. The Red Angus is a beef cattle and is solely bred for their meat.
Red Angus has all the attributes of Angus with the addition of the homozygous red coat colour. The red coat colour better reflects sunlight and therefore can handle heat better and also have fewer fly issues as flies are attracted more to cattle with black hide.
Red Angus cattle are also generally more gentle natured and easier to work with. The Red Angus females have good milk production, great maternal intinct and calves easily. And Angus beef has been highly sought after because of its finely marbled meat. Personally, we also prefer the look of red cattle on green pasture.
From time to time, we have registered Red Angus cattle for sale. Please email [email protected] if you are interested to introduce Red Angus genetics into your herd or start a Red Angus herd.
